No longer just simply a wristband, silicone wristbands comes in a wide variety of styles, symbols and colors. Gaining in popularity, wristbands have helped organizations and foundations crusade against cancer and disease, helping spread the word and increasing fundraising efforts.

Today, silicone wristbands are a common symbol for harmony or charity – as at a glance, people know a wristband supports a cause that is close to one’s heart. With a variety of colors, many youngsters and teenagers simply think these trendy bands are “in” and the latest styles to grace the pages of fashionable teen magazines. However, each color signifies a different cause or awareness effort, making these vibrant silicone wristbands both fashionable and fun. Ultimately, they are easily wearable awareness advertisements.

Despite the reasons many people wear silicone wristbands, it is undeniable that their popularity with youngsters has skyrocketed. Custom wristbands are inexpensive and are affordable with teenagers’ restricted budgets. Affordability makes them even more accessible to today’s younger generation, and many teens wear two or three different bands on each wrist.

Highly durable, custom bands last a long time, which in the teen world is simply sensational. Come rain, sleet, snow or frost, these silicone bracelets are virtually indestructible, meaning children are not going to constantly bug their parents for a new replacement. Whether someone is looking for a sporty or casual look, silicone wristbands fit the bill, looking marvelous with t-shirts and jeans or a cute trendy summer dress. With thousands of colors, styles and sizes to choose from, parents can easily afford to stuff their child’s Christmas stocking with several varieties.

Another popular niche market is personalized silicone bracelets. Reminderband® carries a wide variety of customized silicone wristbands, including debossed bands, plain bands, custom color bands, debossed tire bands, plain tire bands, phat bands, multi-color bands, marbleized bands, silkscreen bands, golf bands, three-striped bands and two-striped bands.

Great for raising fundraising efforts, promoting memorial causes, celebrating our nation’s great military, promoting awareness causes, celebrating religious organizations, spreading the word about events, highlighting local sports memorabilia, celebrating school spirit, raising community awareness, promoting businesses or groups, these designer bands are the moment’s new must have accessory.

Consumers should not let this valuable opportunity pass them by – not only can organizations raise awareness about certain causes, but they can take the opportunity to jump onto a trend that is adored and admired by young children, tweens, teenagers, 20-somethings and 30-somethings alike.

We want to thank all our followers for the success of our new “Fifty Causes” Campaign! Both causes were amazing and we are so excited for what is to come!

This coming Monday we will feature The Sheepfold. For over seven years Reminderband has been focused on the touching messages and heart felt stories of our customers. We have sought to share them with the world in a way that creates awareness and encourages action.

This Tuesday we will launch our “Band Together” project. We have gathered many amazing charities, organizations and causes. Each Monday they will share their stories with you.

You will then have the opportunity to purchase a custom created wristband in support of the featured cause. Your contribution could save a child from sex trafficking, send a pair of shoes to someone in need or help end bullying.

The first cause we will sponsor is GEMS, Girls Education and Mentoring Services. Girls Educational & Mentoring Services (GEMS) is the only organization in New York State specifically designed to serve girls and young women who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking. GEMS was founded in 1998 by Rachel Lloyd, a young woman who had been sexually exploited as a teenager. GEMS has helped hundreds of young women and girls, ages 12–24, who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking to exit the commercial sex industry and to develop to their full potential. GEMS provides young women with empathetic, consistent support and viable opportunities for positive change. Check out their site for more information and watch for their launch on on Tuesday, September 11th.

Stay tuned each week for a new cause; a new way to change the world.

Every year in the United States there are around 1,500 child homicide cases; 1,500 too many. The stories tear at our hearts and raise our awareness. One such stories recently came to our attention here at Reminderband. It is the story of Madison and Caroline; two adorable twins murdered by their father. Below is their story, in their mother’s words. Here at Reminderband we seek to raise awareness to stories like their’s by sharing their message.

I separated from Madison and Caroline’s father in September of 2011.  This was prompted by very odd behaviors that he was displaying.  He was extremely controlling, demeaning and verbally abusive towards me but never to the children.  He also had a hug shoplifting addiction.  I moved myself, the girls and my 14 year old son from a previous marriage into my mother’s house.  We both had lawyers and were going to court over custody.  The girls were appointed a guardien ad litem and both of us were going to have a mandatory psychological evaluation.  This did not come soon enough however.  His behavior began to escalate as he continued to text me constantly during the day and try to keep me from seeing the girls.  I had them Monday through Friday and he had them on the weekends.  This was put into written agreement drawn up by our lawyers.

Their father picked the girls up Friday morning,  January 27th.  He walked in the door and gave me a big hug……apologizing for something he had said to me earlier in the week.  Another odd behavior…….showing affection towards me after being extremely hateful.  This was the last time I saw Madison and Caroline.

I called the girls every Saturday morning to check on them after I got to work.  On the 28th I was unable to reach them by phone.  I left directly from work and headed to the house.  There I found my daughters and their father.  All three had been dead for over 12 hours.  He had channeled carbon monoxide into their bedroom using air conditioning duct work attatched to the tail pipe of his minivan and then put them to bed.  He then slit the girls’ throats and his own.  It was horrific……an image that will never leave my mind.

‘I don’t know if there’s any training that can prepare you for an incident of this sort.’ Said Sgt Chris Whitely, Hanover Police. (Read more).

Hearing a story of this magnitude is never easy or pleasant. The girls mother seeks to share their story to hopefully save a child in the future. If anyone reading has questions or comments feel free to leave them on this post.

At Reminderband we seek to find the most deserving charities, those that truly touch our hearts, and feature them on our blog. Today we are excited to announce our support of Soles4Souls; watch for their feature on our website as well!

Soles4Souls collects new shoes to give relief to the victims of abject suffering and collects used shoes to support micro-business efforts to eradicate poverty. Soles4Souls’ other two divisions, Clothes4Souls and Hope4Souls, provide the same relief and support through clothing and other necessities.

Wen you give the simple gift of you shoes you are protecting people from illnesses and allowing kids to attend school. It also creates sustainable jobs and support for those recovering from disaster. No shoes are ever thrown away; you are recycling! Together we are changing the world one pair at a time.

The Reminderband team is excited to highlight The Sheepfold. The Sheepfold opened their doors to homeless, abused and forsaken women with children in October 1979. Since that time thousands of women and their children have found shelter, safe refuge and a new beginning in life as a result of the Sheepfold ministry. Their powerful new video series on domestic violence helps everyone outside of the problem understand. We are excited to work with them in the future!
