Alexis Teixeira was diagnosed with Lupus at age 14 and has fought for many years through testing and treatments to get proper help. When she was eventually married, she was currently receiving exams but developed preeclampsia after becoming pregnant with their daughter Gianna. Lupus played a part in her high-risk pregnancy and Gianna was born prematurely.
Thankfully, Gianna is doing quite well and is almost four-years-old. Alexis’ husband Luis saw the need for a great deal of awareness that Lupus just wasn’t getting; so he took matters into his own hands. Since his epiphany, Luis has used his rally driving career as a way to promote better awareness for Lupus. His race team Wicked Nasty Motorsports took to representing Lupus awareness (purple) in their team colors. This has allowed the whole family to share the message of awareness and the struggles of Lupus with many, many others.
“So often we overlook the loved ones of those suffering from Lupus who are living through the difficult experiences with them.”
Alexis says her husband’s efforts to raise awareness is a good example for the community, and that everyone can help.
Part of their campaign to raise awareness includes handing out Reminderband wristbands at the racing events, which have been designed with the Wicked Nasty Motorsports logo along with “Lupus Awareness”.

Here, at Reminderband, one of the questions we’re often asked (besides why our headquarters is located in Northern Utah, where the air hurts your face) is “What does debossed mean?” You may be reading this and wondering the same thing because, like a man at the hardware store, you didn’t want to ask for help. Well today, you’ve got it easy, because with the myriad of customization options we have on our site, making a decision can be a little overwhelming! We understand, and we’re here to help.
Well today, you’ve got it easy, because we’ve got the answer. With the myriad of customization options we have on our site, making a decision can be a little overwhelming. We understand, and we’re here to help.
Reminderband offers three main imprint styles for our products:
- Debossed (indented)
- Embossed (raised)
- Printed (flat)
That means if you select a Classic or Contour band, which has a debossed imprint style, any text or artwork you select will be indented. If you like to live on the wild side you can add a color-fill to that imprint to give your wristband a glorious contrast so breathtaking, it’ll make people weep (ok, that may have been a slight exaggeration, but you get the idea).
Debossed bands come with the most bang for your buck, but if it’s multicolor imprints you’re after, you might consider doing a printed wristband (or “silkscreen”, as the cool kids sometimes call it) which allows us to get razor-sharp detail in your design for a crisp effect that engraving can’t achieve.
It really depends on your design, and what you plan on doing with your wristbands. We recommend testing all the options with our state-of-the-art builder and viewing this infographic to help you decide.
Good luck designing your wristbands!
Go over ways to customize your wristbands such as style, color, text, logo, how text is inlaid, etc.
I must admit I knew nothing about Reminderband wristbands when I began to research the company. I had always thought they were used to get you in and out of outdoor rock concerts and hospitals. I soon realized that they would be a great way for my family to remember my 16-year old daughter who is in Brazil for foreign exchange this year. We are all wearing one while she is away.
What is great about Reminderband is the ability to customize the bands for whatever occasion you are celebrating or memorializing. You can get them created with your school colors and mascot. You can have your business logo and name on them. You can also get awareness bracelets for charities, religious movements, and fundraising.
You should really spend some time at http://www.reminderband.com checking out all the options. The site is very user-friendly and easy to navigate. When you get there, click on the “Wristbands” link at the top. Embossed, debossed, custom colored, multi-colored, marbelized, silkscreeened, two striped, three striped, silicone, shells, tire textured…who knew there were so many ways to individualize silicone bracelets?
There are 33 colors in 18 different styles. The price is beyond reasonable – it’s downright cheap. Hint: there is a nice price break if you jump from a quantity of 15 to 20. It’s so nice that 20 are actually less expensive than 15. What a great idea for kids’ birthday party gift bags.
In case you are wondering (as I was), the term debossed means the lettering, logo, etc. is actually engraved into the silicone band. I like this because unlike printing or embossing, it can’t wear off. And, I like the fact that there is no additional charge to have a message on the bands. They do charge a bit extra for custom art work to be debossed, but it’s well worth it to a company or nonprofit that needs to promote that logo or image.
