If you are someone who wears a medical identification bracelet or necklace, you are probably well-acquainted with engraved metal bracelets and dog tags. You’re most likely also aware of the hefty price tag that goes along with them.

What you may not be aware of is our nifty medic alert options that are very customizable, and much more affordable than the alternative. Here are just 4 ideas for some solutions that work great for kids or adults:

The Classic

black-diabetic-wristband-hero.ac157297877f (1)

Since 2004, we’ve been cranked out millions of these custom silicone wristbands for just about any occasion you can imagine. One of the leading reasons folks personalize a Classic band at Reminderband is to wear as a comfortable, affordable, and much more personally stylish medical identification wristband. Since there is no minimum order requirement, it’s perfect for those who just need to order one or two. As always, choose from our selection of colors, fonts, and free stock clip art to make a wristband that speaks to you.

Dog Tags

If you’re one who prefers to sport something around your neck or on a keychain, we have the Dog Tag options, which are made of the same 100% silicone material. These come in two flavors: one with a molded-in medical caduceus on one half and one without. Both are customizable just like our wristbands. You’ll have to be the judge as to which design you like better.

Marquee Wristbands

If you want to retain the recognizable shape of the metal bracelets, try our Marquee wristbands. We offer them in a rectangle and oval shape, with the option to personalize to your liking. The thinner back half of the wristbands are great for additional information like phone numbers or medical instruction.

Contour Wristbands

Epileptic-Contour.png

Thick and Classy. The Contour band is an upgraded spin off our Classic wristband. Featuring rounded edges, this looks and feels more like a bangle or bracelet and is a nice choice for those who want something extra fashionable as well as practical. Splash some color onto your design with tons of gorgeous shades and accent colors for the text from which to choose.

So, which is your favorite style? We recognize how important medical identifiers are for a lot of folks, so we take our quality and designs very seriously. Be sure to check out our full lineup on Reminderband.com to find out how awesome our design experience is. Most have no minimum order requirement, and many of our add-ons are free. Don’t forget, we’re offering discounted wristbands if it’s your first order, so now is a great time to give it a try!

Stay tuned for more Reminderband news and updates in the coming weeks!

Our Friday features really run the gamut of types of events, groups, and individuals and causes. Today, we’d like to briefly spotlight one family and their story of support for their father.

Amos Abplanalp is known for being a wonderful friend, neighbor, loving husband, and father, high school teacher, coach, a prison counselor, Scoutmaster, and LDS bishop. He has a reputation for helping others and, here at Reminderband, that’s something we can get behind.

unnamed.jpg

Amos was diagnosed in April 2016 with Stage four Colon Cancer. Despite the daily struggles, he still works to provide for his family. There is great familial and community support and love for him, and everyone is cheering him on in his fight against cancer. The events and updates are chronicled through their blog.

Two runs of wristbands have been ordered up in support of Amos, both touting the #TEAMAMOS hashtag. The first batch was used for a high school fundraiser for the family, which resulted in a sum of $1,200 raised! The second run will be used for awareness. We love this application for the wristbands to support Amos and his family, as well as to spread the awareness to help others!

We wish Amos the and his family the very best. If you would like to support them, check out their gofundme page, and read more about the family’s endeavors on their blog.

Do you need to share a message that stays with people and leaves an impact?

25881842_atkins_devay_and_crowd.jpeg

Devay Campbell is a career coach and business mentor who wants to do just that. She is hosting a Classroom to Career tour to “empower students and equip them with the knowledge they need to get hired and be successful in their careers.” Her plan is to be able to reach one thousand students for the 2017-18 school year.

Devay has designed her own wristbands with a message she hopes will inspire students to remain ambitious and to continue to pursue what they want out of their lives and careers.

unnamed-10.png

She plans to use them to promote her message and serve as a tangible reminder to “always dream no matter what.”

“After so long, we think it is too late.” Says Devay, “We all need a reminder that it is never too late to follow and achieve our dreams. I want to leave this message behind with the students!”

We love this idea and we wish Devay the very best of luck in her tour. To learn more, visit her Facebook page. Want to be featured in our next Feature Friday? Send us an email about what you’re doing with your cause or event, as well as any pictures you’d like us to use. Ever wondered what the meaning is behind the increasing amount of purple bracelets these days?

Purple is one of our most oft-requested colors, from custom wristbands to keychains. While most are part of a cause or campaign they’re trying to promote, many are using purple awareness wristbands for their own personal reasons.

Purple Wristbandsv3.jpg

Since we fancy ourselves experts in the realm of awareness bracelets, we decided to talk about some of the most commonly-used reasons for purple bands. In no particular order, here are the Top 8 uses and ideas for purple bracelets:

  1. Epilepsy Awareness – Along with some other notable conditions, this particular item doesn’t get quite enough exposure. Lots of great groups out there are working hard to change that.
  2. Lupus Awareness – Purple has rapidly become associated with Lupus, and we’ve even featured some of the campaigns working to support the cause to get the word out there.
  3. Animal Safety/Shelters – Promoting a respected animal shelter or practices that encourage the rescue, treatment, and safety of animals has been another popular idea for folks to get behind. Many have even had their own logo engraved onto the wristband for that added flare. purple with white2.JPG
  4. Pancreatic Cancer – Whether it’s for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month in November, or just a way of rallying and supporting a family member, friend, or cancer-fighting community, purple ribbons and wristbands have been well-established as a symbol for this cancer. Common phrases like “Celebrate Hope” are sure to reach a wide audience.
  5. Find a Cure – If it’s for Pancreatic cancer or another condition that needs more treatment and research encouragement, a ribbon keychain or wristband with “Find a Cure” imprinted on it is a colorful and striking way to support the cause.
  6. Alzheimer’s Awareness – Here’s another one that a lot of wonderful people are working to support. Today, the number of people affected by Alzheimer’s is around 5.4 million. Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month is in November.
  7. End Domestic Violence – “Recognize. Report it. Prevent it.” These have been used for some time to give courage and support to victims and those who are aware of a situation which needs to be reported. We’ve seen a myriad of talented groups working hard to spread the word about various causes involving this issue.
  8. Because You Really Like Purple – Sometimes you don’t have a cause to promote and you just need some wristbands for an event, fundraiser, family reunion, or Disneyland trip, or as your own personal Medical Alert ID Bracelet. We get it, Purple is in. We’ve customized boatloads of them for folks since 2004, and the popularity factor is still going strong!

Young Survival Coalition (YSC) is the premier organization dedicated to the critical issues unique to young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. YSC offers resources, connections, and outreach so women feel supported, empowered and hopeful.

The YSC was founded in 1998 by three women who were each under age 35 at the time of their diagnosis. Discouraged by the scarcity of resources and awareness of young women with breast cancer, so they formed an alliance through which they could make an impact.

unnamed (13).jpg

YSC has three charity bike rides each year: one in each of the South, East, and West Coasts. This event, the Tour de Pink (TdP) is “an inspiring three-day charity bike ride, with a one-day option, that raises funds for young women affected by breast cancer.”

These rides are completely equipped with the proper furnishings of bike and motorcycle marshals, vehicle support, and plenty of rest stops. They also have lodging and meals for the three-day riders, who commit to raising $2,500 each.

Rachel Kelley, a three-day rider in the YSC Tour de Pink West Coast, will be selling the wristbands to contribute to her fundraising efforts. All proceeds from her wristbands will be donated to YSC through her fundraising page, here.

Did you know that kids and dogs develop several cancers in common including bone cancer, brain cancer, lymphoma, and leukemia?
16,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer each year – with only 3 new kids cancer drugs in 20 years, there is little money behind new drugs- only 4% of NIH’s budget goes to pediatric oncology.
Some 4,000,000 dogs in the US are diagnosed with cancer; 50% of all dogs over the age of 10 die from their disease, and treatment options are limited for man’s best friend.

unnamed (11).jpg

Canines-N-Kids has made a unique practice of partnering the two. Treating and researching cancer in dogs can help us to treat children with the same cancers, furthering the effort in the fight against cancer, and developing better treatment options.

The organization will be using wristbands as a giveaway for their “Paws for a Cure Summit” which will be held June 12th in Washington, DC, as well as for their first annual “Two by Four Race Against Childhood & Canine Cancer” on October 1st, in Brambleton, VA. They eventually hope to offer them for purchase on their website. The bands feature their unique design and logo and will help share their message and raise awareness.

Reminderband is happy to feature this awesome organization and their cause.

Looking to jazz up your upcoming event but need ideas? Or do you just love our gorgeous Tyvek wristbands, but need a good reason to design some? Here are four awesome ideas for Tyvek bracelets to get you started:

1. Parties or Celebrations

Since clowns seem to be on the outs these days, one of the best ways to amp up a small (or large) party is to design your very own Tyvek bands for ultimate swag effect. Whether it’s for a sweet sixteen bash or a rowdy graduation party, these make for a colorful, and unique handout for everyone to wear at the shindig.

IMG_2351.JPG

Choose from one of our templates and backgrounds, or design your own and upload that magic yourself! Planning for a small group? No problem. We have the lowest minimums anywhere; order just one wristband, if you like! (Invite a friend, though, because a solo party sounds sad.)

2. Concerts and Performances

Want to get the word out for an upcoming performance?  Whether you’re just promoting an event, or using Tyvek for entry tickets and identification, the possibilities are nonstop.

IMG_2350.JPG

Tyvek bands can be used to great effect here, and they even double as tickets, with bar codes and sequential numbering offered as an option to add to your design.tyvek_concert2.a82e75e8a953 (1).png

tyvek_concert3.3c5ada89cdfc (1).png

Not for a big venue? That’s okay! These are great for local shows, school performances, a battle of the bands, or even little Rachel’s piano recital.

Creating the perfect design is half the fun!

3. Festivals and Fairs

Are you in charge of helping to run the local Rennesaince fair? Helping with the County Fair, or local city Festival? Do away with those ugly plain old bracelets and use Tyvek wristbands to make your ticket/entry bracelet into a piece of art. These make for a great advertisement along with a way to identify patrons.

tyvek_theme_park.57e0e86df572 (1).jpg

We’ve got oodles of font and artwork options, so be sure to play around with your design until it really pops!

4. Fundraisers and Awareness

True to our roots, we offer excellent design options for putting on a fundraiser for just about anything, or to raise awareness in your community, or across the country. Unlimited options are at your disposal to strike the perfect chord for an ongoing fundraiser, or a one-night event. Make your message loud and clear!

IMG_2352.JPG

Need them fast? We’ve got speedy production and shipping options available, and we’ll bend over backward to make your wristbands for your event on time. Still unclear? Check out our events page, shoot us an email, give us a call, or hit us up on social media. We’re always happy to chat!

Until next time!

Since 1949, the United States has observed Mental Health Awareness Month as a way to encourage education, awareness, and outreach resources across multiple outlets and organizations.RK_Green.pngThe oft-associated green ribbon serves as a reminder and a symbol of support for those suffering from mental illness, as well as a way for organizations to share a message of compassion and understanding for such conditions. Those organizations also serve as advocates to offer resources and to mitigate the stigma often tied to mental illness. From suicide prevention to many other causes, groups of people across the United States are working to further their causes.

We have made ribbons, wristbands, and keychains for many such occasions here at Reminderband. Thank you to all those who are working to help one another!
